36 Days

I'm so excited for Christmas! I love the christmas lights on houses, I love drinking hot chocolate, and this year I'm even more excited to have our own christmas tree. Two weeks ago Landon and I were at Smith's Market Place and they had the cutest christmas trees on display so I made him let me buy ornaments for the tree! They are cute only red and white and I can't wait to put the tree up. I told Landon we need to do it this weekend or else nothing will get put out until after finals and then that's only two weeks before christmas. He makes fun of me that I'm so excited, but I can't help it. Tis' the Season!

DRUM ROLL...

I registered for my last semester of classes!!

I could only be happier if Thanksgiving was here and finals were over. The end is in sight and I'm so excited for precepting to be here. I was supposed to be at Primary Children's Hospital, but at the last minute Weber State lost the spots they had so now I'm just waiting to find out if I'll be at Ogden Regional during January (not looking forward to driving up there 3 times a week in bad weather) or LDS during February. I'm really disappointed to not be at Primarys because I wanted to be with kids, but either way I'll learn a lot.

I probably won't see hardly anyone during the month of precepting. Doing 36 hours a week at the hospital and working for 15 plus going to school, taking tests, sleeping and trying to keep up with cleaning and maybe cooking every now and then doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. Good thing my husband helps with everything around the house and even cooks if I ask him to. Precepting will be over before I know it and then it's smooth sailing from there.
As busy as nursing school has been I love it!

10.21.09

You may or may not be able to tell what Landon and I were for the Daly halloween party.
As we walked upstairs Beckham said, "hey, cheetahs" we said no guess again, the next guess was cavemen. Oh well, pebbles and bambam were before his time. Landon thought we didn't even need halloween costumes since we don't have kids, but since this was a costume party I made him wear what I made. I thought the idea was clever since I came up with it on Saturday and the party was Wednesday. It was cheap and required very little sewing.
We ate dinner in a pumpkin which was pretty good and then the kids played a couple games for some fun halloween prizes. Here are a couple pictures of everyone all dressed up.

Kevin and Emilie's family: Kevin-David Beckham, Emilie-Black Mail, Karaia-Tinkerbell, Beckham-Skeleton, Tennyson-Spiderman and Sanders-Elephant.

Jeremy and Danica's family: Jeremy- The Beast, Danica- Sleeping Beauty, Belle- as Belle Aliyah: Cinderella (she had little glass slippers and a pumpkin carriage)

Candace was a Queen and here we are all together minus Jim, Greg, Lyndi and Mckinley. Next year Landon is in charge of the costumes so we'll see what next year brings.

Nocturnal

3:00 am
Landon: "Hey babe could you give me some space"
Me: (in a quiet, tired and confused tone)"How much space do you need? I'm on my half"
Landon opens his eyes "Sorry, I love you" as he falls back asleep

A couple weeks later

1:30 am
I wake up to Landon standing at the end of the bed pulling on the blankets. I asked him what he was doing. He mumbled something and two seconds later was back in bed. Morning comes and I leave for work before he gets up so we don't talk about it. Later he calls me, I ask him why he got out of bed during the night and was pulling on the blankets. We laughed about it for a while. He didn't even remember this until I asked him, but he still had no answer as for what he was doing.

My conclusion: He sleep talks, sleep walks, and can be entertaining even in the middle of the night.

Good thing we like each other or he wouldn't want to share the bed and I wouldn't be ok with my sleep being interrupted.

Fall Break!

Landon's mom had a free two night stay at the Ramada Inn in Moab and since Jim is gone she decided she wasn't going to use it. Landon and I were the lucky ones who got to, Thanks Candace for the practically free vacation. The trip was quick, but lots of fun. Our hotel was really close to everything and almost the perfect place to stay except that it had two double beds. Landon thought for sure we'd have to sleep in separate beds to have enough room, but to his surprise we survived alright.

Tuesday morning we headed to Arches National Park. I had never been there before and was surprised how big the Delicate Arch and the Windows are. Landon really wanted to find a trail that we could go Jeeping on. Tuesday night we ventured around to see what we could find and also went to Hole In The Rock. During all this driving I decided I'd start reading the book I needed to finish in a week. Between driving to all the National and State Parks plus going Jeeping for 3 hours on Wed. I finished my book. That is by far the fastest I've ever read an entire book.
My favorite part of the vacation was a break from school, warm weather, hiking and sleeping until 9.
Landon's favorite part of the vacation was going jee
ping. This trumped everything for him. He found 2 perfect trails for us to go on and even made me get out of the Jeep to take pictures. This picture doesn't quite capture the great time we really had, but it was a fun little getaway .

Too Relaxed...

I have been wanting to get a massage for a l-o-n-g time. Everyone I work with seems to have a membership to Massage Envy where they get them monthly.
I decided I was going to treat myself to one hour of complete relaxation.

I told Cherelle "ok, I'm getting a massage." and then she tells me that she's canceled her membership and isn't going to use her last two so I can use them. Nice, my massage is now going to be free. Perfect!

I tell Landon when I get home from work and who could resist the offer he decides he wants one too. So we make it a couples massage and go on Wed. night. The entire massage was so relaxing. My legs, my feet, and especially my back. Which she probably massaged for over a half hour. We walked out of there feeling wonderful. Sleepy, but wonderful. I just kept telling Landon all night how great my back felt, I was amazed it could make such a difference and had almost considered getting a membership until I calculated how much money that is a year. Not worth it.

The next morning was a different story than the night before. It felt like I had jumped off a cliff and hit every single rock on the way down. My back hurt to sit, stand or bend. It hurt all day and I could barely lift my arms above my head, but Landon seemed to be fine and just laughed and told me maybe a massage every month isn't meant for me.

I can say I've experienced a massage and it is completely relaxing when you're getting it, but the next day is not quite the same. I am even more sure now that having a membership is
not worth it and maybe Landon feels the same since he hurts today. Either way we're happy with just the little massages we can give each other even though they only last for 3 min. and we'll save our money for something else.

Back to School

Summer is officially over. Landon and I both went back to school yesterday. I can't speak for Landon too much because he still has a couple more years left, but for me i was excited. Yes, I still don't enjoy the homework, working all day on the days I don't have school and waking up in time to be to Mckay Dee Hospital by five in the morning, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. My dream of being a nurse since I was a little Kindergartner is finally in sight. My last year of the nursing program is here and It's hard to believe. Today I had lab and we learned how to start IV's and for some reason just knowing how to do that alone makes me feel more official. This semester will be busy and hard, but worth it in 8 months from now.

Landon is taking 15 credits and since we work opposite shifts and hours, we won't be seeing a whole lot of each other unless it's Sunday or as we're going to bed. Monday we are both gone all day until 9, Tuesday morning is my long 11 hour clinical day so I will be going to bed as early as possible on Monday and who knows if I'll last until ten to see Landon when he comes home from work. Wednesday is another long day of school for both of us and then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are all ten hour workdays for me and Landon will be just as busy with school and work on Thursday and Friday and then around 12 hours of work on Saturday. Then Sunday will be here, we'll spend time together, rejuvenate and do it all over again.

I know how important education is and how hard it would be to support a family with out it and that is why these next couple rough years of saying good morning and goodbye or hello and goodnight at the exact same time will pay off and be worth it. Plus it's the normal thing to do. right? Get married, go to school, be poor, live in a hot little apartment, function on not much sleep and regardless of everything else be totally in love. If so. we're on the right track. Now as I get more into the semester I'll have to keep reminding myself and having a good attitude about it.

This summer was full of great things, getting married, going on family vacations, camping, boating and all the little things. The school year is here and despite being busy I'm sure we'll have just as much fun. I can never find time to write memories down in my journal so I want to keep this blog updated with the big, little or fun things that happen in our life. I'm hoping the school year won't be too busy and that I'll find the time to post often. I guess we'll see how it goes.
